How to Set Up Parental Controls on Your IPTV App

IPTV gives you access to thousands of channels including content that is not suitable for children. Setting up parental controls in your IPTV app takes less than five minutes and ensures your family can use the TV safely. Here is how to do it in the three most popular apps.

Parental Controls in TiviMate

TiviMate Premium includes a PIN-protected content lock that works on both individual channels and entire categories.

1. Open TiviMate and go to Settings
2. Select Parental Controls
3. Set a 4-digit PIN
4. To lock a specific channel: go to your channel list, long-press the channel and select Lock Channel
5. To lock an entire category: go to the Groups view, long-press a group (e.g. Adult) and select Lock Group
6. Locked channels show a padlock icon and require your PIN to open

Parental Controls in IPTV Smarters Pro

1. Open IPTV Smarters Pro and tap the Settings icon
2. Go to Parental Control
3. Enable parental control and set a PIN code
4. Select the categories or channels you want to restrict
5. Save your settings

In Smarters Pro you can also restrict access to the VOD (Video on Demand) section entirely, which is useful if you want children to only access live TV channels that you have pre-approved.

Parental Controls in GSE Smart IPTV

1. Open GSE Smart IPTV and tap Settings
2. Scroll to Parental Control
3. Toggle it on and set a PIN
4. Under Restricted Categories select which channel groups to lock
5. Confirm and exit settings

Additional Safety Tips for Family Viewing

• Create a Favourites list for children — add only age-appropriate channels to a dedicated favourites folder and set that as the default view
• Lock the settings menu — most IPTV apps allow you to PIN-protect the settings menu, preventing children from changing or disabling restrictions
• Use a child profile on Android — on Android tablets and Firestick you can set up restricted user profiles at the device level for an additional layer of protection
• Review what is available — spend a few minutes browsing channel categories to understand what is accessible before setting up controls
