How to Set Up IPTV on MAG Box and TVIP

MAG boxes and TVIP devices are dedicated IPTV set-top boxes that use a built-in portal system to load channels. Unlike Android-based devices, they do not need any app installation — you simply enter your portal URL in the device settings and all channels load automatically. Here is the complete setup guide.

What is a MAG Box Portal URL?

A portal URL is a web address that your MAG box connects to in order to receive your channel list and access your IPTV subscription. It is different from an M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials, though the end result — access to your channels — is the same.

When you subscribe to IPTV Nords you receive your portal URL in your welcome email alongside your M3U URL and Xtream Codes credentials. Use the portal URL specifically for MAG box and TVIP device setup.

Step 1 — Find Your MAG Box MAC Address

Before setting up your portal you need to know your MAG box's MAC address. This is a unique identifier that links your device to your subscription.

1. Power on your MAG box and wait for the home screen to load
2. Press the Setup button on your remote
3. Navigate to System Settings → Network
4. Your MAC address is displayed here — note it down (format: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX)

Step 2 — Enter Your Portal URL

1. From the MAG box home screen press Setup
2. Go to System Settings → Servers → Portals
3. In the Portal 1 URL field enter your IPTV Nords portal URL
4. Give it a name in the Portal 1 Name field (e.g. IPTV Nords)
5. Press OK to save
6. Return to the home screen and select STB Portal to connect

Step 3 — Load Your Channels

After connecting to the portal your MAG box will download the channel list. This typically takes 15–60 seconds depending on your connection speed. Once loaded you will see:

• Live TV — organised by country and category
• Video On Demand — movies and series
• Catch-up TV — recent broadcasts available for replay
• EPG — the full electronic programme guide

Using STB Emulator as an Alternative

If you have an Android device and want the MAG box experience without the hardware, STB Emulator replicates the MAG box interface on any Android device. It uses the same portal URL system.

1. Install STB Emulator from Google Play Store
2. Open the app and go to Settings (long-press the menu button)
3. Select Profiles then Add Profile
4. Choose MAG 250/254/256/322 as the profile type
5. Enter your portal URL under Portal URL
6. Save and restart the app — your channels load exactly as on a real MAG box

Troubleshooting MAG Box Issues

• Portal not connecting — check that your portal URL is entered exactly correctly with no extra spaces. Portal URLs are case-sensitive
• Channels loading slowly — check your network connection. MAG boxes work best with a wired ethernet connection rather than WiFi
• MAC address not recognised — make sure you have provided your exact MAC address to IPTV Nords support so your device can be authorised
• Black screen on channels — this usually means a temporary server issue. Wait a few minutes and try again, or contact support
